The African-American Achievement Scholarship was established through the support of SIU Carbondale alumni and friends. Scholars must be full-time undergraduate students at SIUC who have completed a minimum of 30 hours (12 at SIUC) and have a minimum GPA of 2.7. Preference will be given to students of African American heritage. Eligible students will be notified via email during the spring semester to apply.

The Wrophas and Dianne Meeks Academic Excellence Scholarship. The Meeks know that the path to a fulfilling career begins with a college education. The Meeks have supported their two children through college, and now they want to help others. To qualify, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, be of African American heritage, and have completed a minimum of 45 credit hours at SIU Carbondale. Eligible students will be notified via email during the spring semester to apply.

The Hispanic-American Fund was established through the support of SIU Carbondale alumni and friends. Scholars must be full-time undergraduate students at SIUC who have completed a minimum of 30 hours (12 at SIUC) and have a minimum GPA of 2.7. Preference will be given to students of Hispanic-American heritage. Eligible students will be notified via email during the spring semester to apply.

The Roland Burris Endowment assists full-time SIU Carbondale students in good academic standing. The student must be from the Chicagoland area or from Southern Illinois (south of I70). Preference may be given to African American students

The McDaniel Oats Memorial Scholarship was established by Zenetta McDaniel Coleman to honor her two grandmothers who exemplified a life of courage and strength to overcome compelling social, cultural, economic and educational barriers. McDaniel and Oats both retired from SIU as civil service employees. Preference will be given to an African American undergraduate or graduate student who has been accepted into the special education department.
